Terminally sterilised cornea, sclera and lenticules for glaucoma and corneal surgery, ready to use from the shelf. From Lions World Vision Institute, supplied in South Africa by Evolution Vision.
Overview
What OptiGraft sterile tissue is
OptiGraft sterile tissue is donor cornea and sclera, plus Bowman’s layer and Dua’s layer lenticules, terminally sterilised by electron beam. It is ready to use, with no rinsing or rehydration.
The corneas are clear, which gives the surgeon more placement options.

BrightMEM
Lions World Vision Institute describe BrightMEM as a corneal allograft that promotes regeneration of the corneal epithelium. It is made from Descemet’s membrane, which creates a new foundation for the ocular surface, capable of supporting native limbal epithelial stem cells. They present it as a new treatment for patients with impaired corneal healing and severe corneal disorders, through its regenerative properties.
BrightMEM is aseptically processed rather than terminally sterilised.
